Great Britain to face Canada in 2024 World Championships

The official release of the game schedule for the 2024 IIHF World Championships confirmed that Great Britain will face Canada in their first game of the tournament.

It’s the beginning of a tough start for GB, who after facing the top seed then play second-ranked Finland the following day.

Switzerland (7) is the next opponent before GB finishes their group campaign with consecutive back-to-back games.

It’ll be a tough ask to take any points from Denmark (11) or hosts Czechia.
The final pair of games present Pete Russel’s team with the opportunity to pick up points and remain in the top tier of world hockey.

Norway (12) and Austria (16) will doubtless be the nations that the 20th-seeded GB will be looking to finish above to stave off relegation.

The good news for travelling fans is that two of Great Britain’s games are categorised as the “family game.” Tickets for these games (Canada and Austria) are approximately one-tenth of the price of all the other group stage fixtures.

The Prague Arena will play host to all of Great Britain’s group-stage games.

Registration for the ticket draw is open until September 15, the public sales start on October 10.
As per the official press release, “All tickets will be sold as day packages only, with the only exception of Family Game Tickets, which include the early games at 12:20 local time. Specifically, Saturdays, May 11 and 18 and Tuesday, May 21.”

“The first category daily packages, specifically for Czech and Slovak games, can be purchased starting at 2,080 CZK for the third price category to 4 480 CZK for the first price category. “We are pleased that we managed to stay within the framework of the announced prices, and in fact, the amount for the tickets in the first category is even lower than originally announced.”

“A daily package for the foreign teams will start at 1,180 CZK for the third price category. “For the other national teams, we aimed to keep favorable prices and motivate Czech and foreign fans to visit Prague and Ostrava. We can state that attending the 2024 IIHF WM is financially acceptable, even compared to recent cultural events.” – Petr Bříza.
