With last year’s relegation from the top flight now put to bed, the turn of a new year brings a great deal of optimism and hope.
Great Britain will have the honour of hosting the 2023 IIHF World Championship Division I Group A at the Motorpoint Arena in Nottingham.
The last time the Senior Men hosted a tournament, the team won gold and promotion with the SSE Arena in Belfast as their home on that occasion.
Much has been made in the past about the lack of, or not enough preparation in readiness for important tournaments.
No stone will be left unturned this time, especially with the announcement of a pre-world championship tournament also to be hosted in the UK.
Great Britain shall host Romania, Poland and Japan in a round-robin tournament played over a weekend in February across three venues.

The 2023 IIHF World Championship Division I Group A is figuratively speaking, just around the corner.
Great Britain, Italy, Lithuania, Korea, Poland and Romania make up the six-team group, with the tournament taking place from Saturday 29th April to Friday 5th May 2023.
GB start their campaign against Korea on Saturday 29th April (19:30 face-off), and the hosts will play the evening game for the entirety of the tournament.
Great Britain and Italy are the two favourites for promotion, and they will meet in the final game of the tournament on Friday 5th May.

The teams finishing first and second in the group will be promoted to play in the 2024 top-level World Championship in Prague and Ostrava in Czechia.
