I have long advocated for talented young British hockey players to explore avenues outside the UK.
More ice-time, higher levels of competition and better resources are just some of the benefits.
Born in London, Sebastian Shillito has been in Denmark since 2019, attempting to follow his hockey dream.
The forward has been climbing the ranks of the Rödovre junior system, starting with the U16 program as a fourteen-year-old.

During his first year in Scandinavia, Shillito would also play twelve games in the Swedish U16 Division 1. He registered seven points, including five goals.
In the 2020-21 campaign, the right-handed shot recorded thirteen points (5-8-13) in twelve games.
He’s followed that up with sixteen points (2-14-16) in thirteen games this season for Rødovre U17.
Shillito is ranked 38th amongst his peers in U17 scoring, despite playing far fewer games.
His points per game see him ranked at 29th in that category. Which is more representative of his production level.
The reason Shillito hasn’t played as many games at the U17 level is that he’s been tested further.

The sixteen-year-old has not only got one game under his belt at the U20 level but also two for Rødovre SIK, who compete in Denmark’s second tier.
British hockey fans should remember the name, Sebastian Shillito. Another British player who dares to carve his unique path, going against the grain.
