Head coach, James Ashton, said: “All the staff would like to thank players and parents for their support during this challenging year.”

“The players have worked extremely hard to get back on the ice and have taken every opportunity given to better themselves. This year, myself Nicola, Jenny and Danny have been linking in with club coaches and have been able to watch streamed games, which has been great and a huge thanks to the support from clubs.”

“As always, we have had to make some difficult decisions and had lost a couple of players because of injuries. We believe we have selected a team who can perform at the international level and will be able to compete in every game with the clear goal of looking for success.”

Amongst the roster are some interesting players of note, the majority of whom will be suiting up for Great Britain for the first time.

Emma Nichols

The seventeen-year-old netminder is currently playing her hockey in Sweden.

She is the only player on the roster to be playing in Europe outside of the UK and has made an impressive start for Södertälje SK.

A product of the junior systems in Chelmsford and Bracknell, Nichols will be making her second appearance at a World Championships for Great Britain.

Ruby Newlands

The youngest player on the roster at the tender age of 14!

Newlands is a product of the Scottish junior system and this year has played for Whitley Bay at various levels including WNIHL Elite.

The forward has two points in three games at the top tier of women’s hockey in the UK which is impressive for someone so young.

Lydia Walsh

Liam Steele is not the only British player at Stanstead college this year!

Defender Walsh is taking the same path after leaving the Guildford junior system and the Lightning.

The London native shall be playing in her second World Championship campaign and looking to utilise that experience.

She will also be hoping to bring back a bronze medal (or better!) like her Stanstead colleague.

Chamonix Jackson

Probably the best-known player on the roster due to her exposure at the most recent Olympic qualifying campaign in which Jackson made her mark at the full international level.

A standout forward on this roster and a strong contender for a leadership role.

Having switched from Nottingham to Solihull this season, Jackson is producing at a point-per-game pace in the Women’s Elite league this season.

Ellie Patrick

Patrick is the second player on the roster playing in North America.

The fifteen-year-old is at Hoosac School (USHS), a private boarding school based in New York, situated northeast of Albany.

The defender is a native of Northern Ireland and a product of the Junior (Belfast) Giants youth system.

A note of interest to keep an eye for is that GB has Patrick listed as a defender but for Hoosac, she plays forward.
