Viewing the NHL in the UK 2021-22

WE FINALLY HAVE a TV deal announced.

As of October 7, 2021, Premeir Sports announced they once again own the rights to brodcast NHL hockey.

Slightly bizarrely this was announced via social media and not through an official press release. In fact the PS website shows no indication of the NHL at the time of writing.

The initial schedule can be found at the following tweet.

Premier Sports have held the NHL broadcast rights since 2011

Packages to subscribe to Premier Sports can be found at: https://www.premiersports.com/subscribenow

Some games will be shown on free-to-watch FreeSports, which is the sister channel of PS.

FreeSports can be accessed on digital TV and online. You only need set up an account to watch online, no payment or credit card details are neccessarily.

A check of BT Sports at this time indicates they plan to show no NHL games in 2021-22. This despite them acquiring the rights to showcase three games a week in recent years.

I SHALL UPDATE THE ABOVE SECTION AS AND WHEN NEWS BECOMES AVAILABLE.

Please don’t shoot the messenger in this regard, I am just doing my best to channel updates to a wider audience when it becomes available.

  1. Is it possible that there’s just no deal with anyone this year? That would mean everything is available on NHL Network right?

That would suit me just fine.

  2. This is good news for people like myself that subscribe to NHL.tv as it means no blackout to some games that would be on Premier sports. It was especially annoying during the playoffs.
