The 2022 Winter Olympics are just around the corner in hockey terms.

With the Covid19 Pandemic having played havoc with sport, it has taken until now for qualification to begin.

Great Britain’s Women’s team has a fantastic opportunity in front of them with home advantage and a schedule that will encourage fans to support them in their bid to advance to the next stage of qualification.

Thursday 7th October

Korea v Slovenia – 2 pm

Great Britain v Iceland – 7 pm

Friday 8th October

Iceland v Korea – 2 pm

Great Britain v Slovenia – 7 pm

Sunday 10th October

Slovenia Women v Iceland Women – 1 pm

Korea v Great Britain – 5 pm

As host, Great Britain play all their games in the evenings and will not face top-seeded Korea until the final game of the round-robin tournament.

Hockey has been badly hit in the UK, with rinks closing and even teams folding.

With that in mind, I urge you to consider supporting Great Britain’s women’s team in their qualification bid.

We should all be grateful for live sport, especially at the international level, and having the chance to attend in person.

Despite not having the success or backing of the Men’s national team, the women are no less committed to their craft, the sport and are desperate to take the next step in Olympic qualification.

With all that in mind, it is fantastic that the organisers have made buying tickets for this event extremely affordable and introduced a concept for families to attend.

All tickets will cost just £6.50 each (including fees), with under-16s free with every paying adult (maximum two per person).
