Éric Faille is one of a long list of players who deserved a greater opportunity in the American League.
The Quebec native made an immediate impact when turning professional following time in Canadian University hockey.
The Fort Wayne Komets were pleased to have signed the rookie to an ECHL deal as Faille netted 27 goals and put up 54 points in 45 regular-season games.
The right-winger added a further eight points in twelve playoff outings and in-between times earned himself a loan spell in the AHL with Texas Stars. Six points in 21 games for the Dallas affiliate was an encouraging start and caught the eye of the Toronto Marlies who penned Faille to an AHL contract for 2015-16.

Faille found his opportunities limited in Toronto despite impressing at whichever level he played.
Sixty points in 56 games for the Orlando Solar Bears earned the power-forward fifteen outings with the Marlies in which he scored seven goals and registered three assists.
It did, however, earn him another AHL deal in Toronto but Faille would be limited to just eleven AHL games during the 2016-17 campaign. In the ECHL Faille was a superstar for the Orlando Solar Bears, finishing 17th amongst all scorers with seventy points despite playing far fewer games than his compatriots.
Like many before him, Faille opted to head overseas for a new adventure, seeking some stability to his career rather than bouncing around North America.
Two seasons with HC Banska Bystrica in the Slovak league proved productive for player and team.
Faille helped his new club win back-to-back championships and in his second season led the league in assists (48) and points (72).

It was then to Switzerland to play second-tier hockey with EHC Kloten, a move which has also been productive.
Faille was ranked third in scoring during 2019-20 with 69 points in 41 games but was unable to help deliver championship success to Kolten as the pandemic hit.
Having re-signed with the Swiss club for this current campaign, the Canadian forward at the time of writing has six points in seven games.
The 31-year-old finished his time in North America with better than average offensive statistics, recording 19 points in 47 AHL games and 184 points in 158 ECHL outings.
In 2019 Faille was selected to don a Canadian national jersey and was part of the team that lifted the Spengler Cup.
