One of the most dominant players in American Hockey League history has hung up his skates at the age of 39.
Keith Aucoin retires as the seventh-leading scorer in AHL history, having recorded 857 points in 769 (regular season) games over thirteen seasons.
He also ranks fifth in all-time with 613 assists, and is tied for 11th with 88 points in 92 career postseason contests.
The Massachusetts native won back-to-back Calder Cups with Hershey Bears in 2009 & 2010 and will be likely be most fondly remembered by that organisation and fan base.
Aucoin was the AHL’s MVP and scoring champion in 2009 (106 points in 70 games) and accrued a total of 89 goals and 255 Assists for 344 points during his 238 games through four seasons with the Bears.

His seventeen year career also included stints in the AHL with Lowell Lock Monsters (2001-02, 05-06), Providence Bruins (2002-03, 04-05), Cincinnati Mighty Ducks (2003-04), Albany River Rats (2006-08), Toronto Marlies (2012-13) and Chicago Wolves (2013-14).
Aucoin played in a record-tying six AHL All-Star Classics, and was voted a First Team AHL All-Star three times (2009, 2010, 2012) and a Second Team All-Star three times (2006, 2007, 2011).
Undrafted out of Norwich University, Aucoin played 145 games in the National Hockey League with Carolina, Washington, New York Islanders and St. Louis, recording a combined 49 points (17-32-49).

The diminutive forward headed to Europe in 2014 after not being offered an NHL deal.
A single season in Switzerland with HC Ambrì-Piotta was followed by three successive years in Germany where Aucoin played a huge role in helping Red Bull Muenchen secure three consecutive championships during his tenure.
In retirement, Aucoin can spend more time with his wife Maureen and their two sons but he’s not entirely cutting his ties with the sport which has played a huge role in his life.
He will coach the ‘B’ team of the Boston Junior Rangers, an 18-under team out of the Breakaway Ice Center in Tewksbury, Massachusetts and assist with the ‘A’ team.
