The high profile additions to the Elite League continue as Belfast recently added to their roster for the 2018-19 campaign.
Kyle Baun is a former team-mate of Darcy Murphy (Current Belfast Giant) with the pair icing for Colgate University through 2012-2015.
The 26 year old would earn himself a two-year entry level contract with the Chicago Blackhawks and made three appearances in the NHL at the back-end of the 2014-15 season.
Baun has been a regular in the minors since then, suiting up for Rockford IceHogs (Chicago), Laval Rocket (Montreal) and most recent the Toronto Marlies.
His bare statistics may not look exciting on paper but the right winger has the ability to be one of Belfast’s most productive players.
In 2016-17, Baun recorded 34 points in 74 games for Rockford, including fourteen goals but more impressively, over 75% of his overall points total were primary.
The Laval Rocket were one of the worst teams to compete in the AHL last season so it’s no surprise that the Toronto native struggled to put up comparable numbers in 2017-18.
Sixteen points in 54 games was his return after being traded to Montreal but fourteen of those were at even strength and primary markers.
Circumstances dictated Baun would fail to trouble the scorers as much as he would have liked with Toronto but he was also pretty luckless in front of net.
Six points in 17 outings for the Marlies but more often than not, his role was playing against the best the opposition had to offer on a shut-down type line, mostly alongside Colin Greening and Frederik Gauthier.
Belfast have a player who is highly combative, excellent along the boards, not short on foot speed and defensively responsible. Penalty killing should be his forte on special teams but Baun could provide an option on the power play, having never really been given that opportunity in his professional career to date.
Having played under Head Coach Sheldon Keefe with the Marlies, Giants Head Coach Adam Keefe will have all the knowledge he requires heading into the season.

Francis Beauvillier is somewhat of a wildcard acquisition but could potentially fly under the radar.
Vastly less experienced than Baun, the 24 year old is coming off his first season as a professional after finishing his University career.
Beauvillier won back to back championships during his time with New Brunswick, recording 54 points in 74 games during three seasons.
Drafted 174th overall by the Florida Panthers in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft and an attendee at the 2016 Columbus Blue Jackets training camp, the Quebec native signed his first professional contract with Manitoba Moose after impressing in an ATO (amateur tryout contract), in March 2017.
During that nine game stint, the rookie put up four goals and an assist.
Beauvillier dressed in 43 regular season games for the Moose in 2017-18, acquiring eight points (2-6-8) all at Even Strength, and also featured in nine post-season games.
Predominately a left-winger who can play down the middle, Beauvillier plays a very physical game, is adept at driving to the net from the wing and could well surprise some opponents to begin the season.
